Project Overview
Print & Digital Illustration | Illustrator | Photoshop | Entrepreneurism in Design
The protagonist of this Children's storybook is based on my pug Ying. It's a cute comical about him always causing trouble in some way. This book is an example I use to show people the final product of what their very own children's book of their pet could look like. Creating children's books of families' pets became my small business idea.
Printed Version
I used MixBook to create a physical printed version of Ying. I saved all the Illustrator art boards as PNGs and copied and pasted the images into the book template.

Book Information:
— size: 8.5" x 8.5"
— paper used: semi-gloss (classic, smooth paper with a subtle gloss that’s ideal for photos)
— softcover (flexible, thick, smooth cover that adds a professional low-gloss finish)
— book binding type: perfect binding (a.k.a. soft cover binding)

Social Media Posts
Part of the project was to get actual clientele (if possible). I created two ad versions for two different social media platforms—Facebook and Instagram. After a few minutes of posting, I've gotten messages from people interested in my business.

For both posts, I spread the information out so that the text wouldn't be too small and ineligible to read. For Instagram users, people would swipe right to view more information while Facebook users could see a photo grid of all the information.

Inspiration
The inspiration behind Ying is based on David Shannon's No, David! books.
